Covid Protocols Update
January 7, 2022
Friends,
Sadly, Covid is surging in our community once again. It appears that the latest variant causes less-severe disease in most people, but it spreads easily and is very threatening to unvaccinated people and people with other health problems. Our hospitals are once again being overwhelmed.
I urge us all to be vigilant over the next few weeks. Get vaccinated and boosted if you have not already done so. Wear masks indoors - maybe even two! Get tested if you think you've been exposed. Stay home if you have symptoms. Continue to love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Here are the precautions we are taking at St. Thomas.

Here are the precautions we are taking at St. Thomas.
- Masks are required at all indoor gatherings for everyone over the age of 2.
- We will meet in the largest spaces possible. Children will meet in the outreach center and parish hall. Choir will rehearse on Wednesdays in the nave rather than the choir room.
- Adult formation will meet in the library and parlor (by zoom) to allow more space to spread out.
- When possible, doors will be left open to allow air circulation.
- Please continue to sign in and let us know if you test positive for Covid within five days of attending a gathering at St. Thomas.
- For now, we will return to sitting in every other pew for a few weeks. Spacers are at the doors to use to create more space around you.
- And, of course, worship and adult formation are available online. Please feel free to join in from home!
A final word - we are canceling Family Eucharist this Sunday. Rain is expected, so we won't be able to meet outside. Since young children are not eligible for vaccination, it does not make sense to meet inside. We hope to resume on the 2nd Sunday of the month in February and in the months ahead.
I know we are all exhausted by Covid. But, as the scriptures say, "Let us not grow weary in well-doing." We hope this current wave will pass quickly. St. Thomas members have been patient, tolerant, and faithful throughout this ordeal, and I cannot thank you enough.
Blessings to you all -
