Letting Go Lent Meditation by Grace Burton-Edwards
Friends,
Sunday was a wonderful occasion. Thank you all for a beautiful celebration of 10 years of ministry together.
The event caused me to remember where I was ten years ago. On Sunday, February 9, 2014, I said goodbye to a church and school I loved. On Saturday, February 15, I moved into the rectory. On Sunday, February 16, I worshipped with St. Thomas for the first time. Monday, February 17 was my first day on the payroll. The following Sunday I preached and celebrated for the first time. It was a busy and eventful week - a sign of things to come!
Letting Go of my life in Indiana was harder than I anticipated, but it led to more joy and fulfillment than I could ever imagine. I am so grateful I had the courage to Let Go and embrace the new direction to which God was calling.
Our theme this Lent is Letting Go. What do you need to Let Go in this season? What habit, worry, harm, or attitude is getting in the way of love for God, love for neighbor, and love for self?
What do you need to embrace? A mental, physical, or spiritual discipline? A new idea or perspective? A willingness to reflect and change?
As our dear friend Judy Harding often said - Let Go, and Let God!
Wishing you a Holy Lent -
Grace
