More Welcoming Language in our Liturgies
A few years ago, the Episcopal Church authorized optional updates to some of the language in our worship liturgies. These subtle changes provide more inclusive language for people and more expansive language for God. The goal of these offerings is to make the language of our worship more welcoming to all.
St. Thomas has offered the updated language at our Wednesday Eucharist for over a year. Feedback from people who have prayed these prayers on Wednesdays has been positive. Our worship committee decided this summer to start using these updated liturgies on Sundays as well. We will continue to print the entire liturgy in our bulletins, so you will have all of the words. Those following along in the Book of Common Prayer may notice slight variations.
We are pleased to share these prayers which better reflect God's expansive love for us all.
