Sunday Adult Formation During Lent: Freeing Jesus

Friday, February 25, 2022, 2:58 PM
Diana Butler Bass’s Freeing Jesus provides the framework for Sunday Adult Formation in Lent. This autobiographically-shaped book looks at six common terms for viewing Jesus – Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, Presence – and the ways her understanding of those terms has changed over her life. Those changes “freed Jesus” from the narrow constraints and distortions of her earlier understandings, and thereby “freed her” to experience and appreciate Jesus in deeper, more meaningful ways.
Each week a different St. Thomas member will share his or her own brief reflections on one of these views of Jesus. Then, in interaction with those reflections and with the book, Denny Clark will moderate a discussion of that particular theme each week.

We hope you will read this book, but reading it is not a prerequisite for participating meaningfully in this Sunday morning series. The new paperback edition will be available the first week of Lent; the church has ordered copies of this. Please let the office know if you would like one. The hardback, Kindle and audiobook formats are presently available through Amazon here.
