Sundays in Advent
First Sunday of Advent - November 27: Prepare for the Season
Advent devotions and candles for the Advent wreath are available this morning. A limited number of tree ring Advent wreaths made by Dan Ginter will also be available. Sign up here by November 20 to reserve candles or a wreath. We hope you will decorate wreaths at home and share pictures. Email pictures to the church office or share on social media with #mystthomas.
Second Sunday of Advent - December 4: Welcome New Members
At both services on this day, we will welcome and introduce all who became members of St. Thomas in 2022 and pray for you in worship that morning. We will also meet briefly after each service with those who are planning to attend the Confirmation service on December 11 at the Cathedral to discuss carpooling and other details. If you have not yet joined St. Thomas but would like to, complete the form on the website or contact the church office. You are welcome to join anytime, but to be welcomed on December 4, please contact us by December 1.
Third Sunday of Advent - December 11: Confirmation Services
Sunday, December 11 at 4 pm at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, with the St. Thomas Choir singing
Baptism makes us members of Christ’s one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. Joining St. Thomas makes members of this particular congregation and marks our commitment to live out the vows of baptism with this community. Being Confirmed or Received by our Bishop marks a mature public affirmation of our faith and a commitment to living out the vows of baptism within the larger Episcopal church.
We have two opportunities for Confirmation coming up. On Sunday, December 11, the St. Thomas Choir will sing at a Diocesan Confirmation Service at 4 pm at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta (2744 Peachtree Rd). Those being confirmed need to be at the Cathedral by 3:15 pm.
If you can’t make it to Atlanta, Bishop Wright will join us in Columbus on January 22 at 3 pm for a service for congregations in this region. Please let Rev. Grace know if you plan to be confirmed at one of these services or complete this form online.
Fourth Sunday of Advent - December 18: Lessons & Carols and Christmas Pageant
At 4 pm, the St. Thomas Choir will offer a beautiful service of Christmas Lessons and Carols while the Episcokids present a Christmas Nativity Pageant during the carols. Following the service, join us for a Wassail Party in the Parish Hall and a children’s Christmas Party in the Outreach Center. You may bring a favorite sweet or savory dish to share at the Wassail Party. Sign up here with Mrs. Erin to participate in the pageant and/or attend the children’s Christmas Party.
