Wednesday Word from Rev. Roxane
Greetings --
As I begin my sojourn with the good folks of St. Thomas and its wider community, I find myself rejoicing, giving thanks, and singing. Throughout every day I engage in these three activities. Now that you have invited me to serve in this particular corner of God's kingdom, I'm gifted with new opportunities to rejoice, give thanks, and sing.
I rejoice that you are a parish deeply rooted in the life, ministry, and love of Christ Jesus, and that we are now linked to live out our calling together. I am grateful that, as your website Welcome attests, you value diversity and cherish the gifts of all. And I must say I keep leaving this writing to return to my piano and sing as I celebrate this new path in my own ministry!
My priestly vocation is founded upon the Baptismal Covenant. Growing up, many of us memorized scripture; the last five questions of the Covenant may just cover all that scripture in a succinct and meaningful way, don't you think? The words of your website Welcome, clearly also founded upon the Baptismal Covenant, bring it all home and cause me to rejoice, give thanks, and sing in response to our new connection through the Covenant:
Proclaim...share...gather...learn...pray...serve...justice...peace...humility...hospitality.
Pastoral care, the focus of my ministry at St. Thomas, begins with meeting, getting to know, and loving each and every one of you. For me that means meeting you where you are, deepening my knowledge of your lives and ministries, and growing to love you as wholeheartedly as God does. I am eager as well for you to begin to know and love me. Let's begin. I will be in touch with you and hope you will reach out to me in the meantime.
So, ye pure in heart, I invite you to rejoice, give thanks, and sing alongside me as we embark upon this holy sojourn together.
Christ's peace and my love,
Roxane+
