Wednesday Word from the Strategic Planning Committee
The Wednesday Word from the Strategic Planning Committee
We are thankful and excited for the wonderful gift Bobsie and Clifford Swift generously gave to St. Thomas. Because of that gift we have the opportunity to present a few proposals for St. Thomas. The Swifts' gift launched the idea for the Vestry to convene a group of previous wardens and treasurers as a Strategic Planning Committee. The committee has been meeting monthly since January to examine some questions that have been on the back burner and to lay out some faithful but bold steps into the future:
- Growth of the congregation – Consider staffing and program needs to support the continued growth of the congregation as well as facility issues such as parking and seating in the nave.
- Accessibility to all – Explore whether it is possible to create greater accessibility to the altar and choir loft, and conduct a cost-benefit analysis of any proposed changes.
- Stewardship of our property – Consider ways to use our building and grounds as part of God’s work in this community, including uses that could generate income for the congregation or for others.
We discovered that in our current nave, the physical foundation for growth was already planned years ago by those leaders who envisioned the impact St. Thomas would make in the community. We want to share with you our findings and to ask the question, “Are we on the right track?”
