Wednesday Word: Rev. Darius Sudayi
Friends -
We shared in our Celebrations and Sorrows email last week the good news that Rev. Darius Sudayi received his work visa and is now joining our staff at St. Thomas as Associate Rector for Mission. We received grant funding for part of the cost of this position for up to two years. He will work with St. Thomas to support our Outreach Ministries and also help with administration. He will also provide some clergy leadership with St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Columbus (4244 St. Mary’s Road). St. Thomas helped start St. Mary Magdalene many years ago, and we've always worked closely together through Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministries.
For now, the plan is for him to lead worship with St. Mary Magdalene on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. In addition, he will assist with Sunday worship at St. Thomas one Sunday a month as well as Wednesday evening services and activities. His wife Anna and children are already involved with St. Thomas ministries, so now the whole family will be here. Rev. Roxane Gwyn will continue to be with St. Thomas two Sundays a month and with St. John's in West Point one Sunday a month.
We have always known that St. Thomas is blessed by God to be a blessing to others. You reach out to the community in so many ways - through Wynnton Neighborhood Network and CVEM, through East Carver Heights and Boxwood Soccer, through Brewer Buddies and Path to Shine, and through all of the ways St. Thomas members lead and serve in the community. Caring for the congregations around us is a natural extension of this good work.
Rev. Sudayi will celebrate Eucharist at both services this Sunday, December 11. Join us to introduce yourself and assure him of your prayers.
Blessings -
Grace
