Wednesday Word: Selfless giving

Several significant days tend to fall around the same time in November - All Saints' Day, Election Day, Veterans' Day. And, at St. Thomas, we often begin our financial pledge campaign around the same time.

The theme of selfless giving and service unites them all. Last Sunday, we remembered the heroic faith of the Saints who have gone before us. By voting on or before Election Day, we honor all who stand for election and are willing to serve in public office. On Veterans Day, we celebrate all who offer themselves in service of our country, as well as their families. Our Wednesday Eucharist tonight will focus particularly on Veterans Day.

And this Sunday, we invite another kind of service in which we all can share - our service to God through our financial gifts in 2023. Pledge packets will be available for pick up in the narthex. Our theme this year is "The St. Thomas Story" - how the good news of Jesus is declared through this congregation as we Love God, Love Every Person, Learn and Serve Together.
