Serve Our Members
Often we assume that pastoral care is solely the realm of clergy. Not so at St. Thomas! Our model is more like Jesus and the disciples -- each person using their particular gifts to minister to others within and beyond the church.
Here are possibilities to be thinking about, ways you can become involved in pastoral care: Communications, such as writing, calling, listening, visiting, and praying. Eucharistic visitations. Prayer groups. Ministering to those with specific needs, such as grief, loneliness, and other struggles. Tangible gifts such as food and transportation.
Remember, too, the other side of the coin: What care do you need?
As you think about continuing and new ways to care for your neighbors, keep in mind the words attributed to St. Teresa of Avila: "Christ has no body but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours."
