The Word & the Holy Communion
The Service of the Word includes prayers, Scripture readings, the sermon, and a Creed. These help us focus on God’s work in the world and the good news of Jesus.
Holy Communion is a sacrament in which we receive holy gifts and become holy people. We call it Eucharist, which means “thanksgiving.” In the Episcopal Church, all who claim the name Christian are welcome to share in Holy Communion. If you do not wish to receive, you are still welcome to come to the altar and cross your arms over your chest and receive a blessing.
